Office of Youth and Community Restoration
State agency charged with supporting youth who are court-involved. The OYCR Ombudsperson investigates complaints from youth in California juvenile facilities who believe their rights are being violated or are experiencing harmful conditions. See website to file a complaint.
Provides free legal services in areas such as housing support, family law, civil lawsuits, consumer law and debt issues, wills, criminal record expungement, and employment law.
Offers free and low-fee legal representation in immigration court proceedings, with a focus on deportation defense.
Phatt Chance Community Services
Transitional housing program emphasizing sober living, relapse prevention, mental health support, peer mentoring, and life skills training.
Supports people affected by HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and mental health issues through integrated legal, social, and health services.
Offers emergency housing and resources, counseling, and 24-hour helplines to women and youth in crisis.
Protects the rights of incarcerated people through advocacy, education, and litigation. Publishes California Prison and Parole Law Handbook, as well as handouts on resentencing, post-conviction relief, parole, and 602 administrative appeals.
Provides free books and educational resources to incarcerated individuals.
Provides yoga classes in prisons throughout California. Provides books, videos, and digital materials on yoga and meditation to people in prison.
