Reduced Clerks' Offices Hours in Many Superior Courts
Jan. 2, 2012

In 2011, the state budget crisis led many superior courts in the First District to reduce their clerk's offices hours.

Even before such reductions, we recommended calling the superior court in advance of an in-person visit to confirm that the items to be reviewed (e.g. casefile or exhibits) are available for review. It is now also essential to confirm the front counter hours for the department you need to visit. The extent to which the reductions will reduce phone access, may depend on the county and the specific unit called. Generally, the earlier you call in the day, the more likely you will get through to a live person; many of the clerks' offices are open as early as 8 or 8:30 a.m.

As of January 1, 2012, the hours for the counties with reduced service are stated below, with links to, and dates of, each county's announcement, where available:

The clerks' offices in Del Norte (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Napa (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Counties remain open all day.
