Two upcoming trainings may be of interest to panel attorneys:

Writing to Win (July 19, 2011)

Professor Myron Moskovitz of Golden Gate University Law School will be presenting a seminar on “Writing to Win” on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, from 6 pm to 9:15 pm. in San Francisco. Professor Moskovitz has provided this description of the training, which has been approved for three hours of MCLE credit, including 1/2 credit in ethics:

The seminar will focus on how to persuade judges, by thinking strategically when you write a memo of points & authorities or brief in a trial or appellate court. .... About 100 pages of materials will be distributed. We’ll discuss some general strategic principles and examine how they apply to some real-life examples.  This should help you win your demurrers, motions for summary judgment, motions in limine, appeals, and the like. This is not like other writing courses.  It’s designed to change your way of thinking about how to convince judges.  I hope to get your creative juices flowing.

CACJ 2011 Appellate Practice Seminar (Aug. 20, 2011)

This year's CACJ appellate practice seminar will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the San Francisco State University Downtown Campus at the Westfield San Francisco Centre. The agenda topics include the year in review, harmless error, Batson-Wheeler, federal habeas developments, and Miranda. There will also be breakout sessions on judicial misconduct and misdemeanor appeals. Brochure and registration information here.
