2005 Rule Amendments -- Online Resources

Effective January 1, 2005, there were many changes to the Rules of Court governing appeals. In addition to miscellaneous changes, there were major overhauls of the rules governing juvenile cases and the rules governing General Appellate Procedure. There are several online resources available summarizing the changes:

• ADI. has prepared seven memos and seven charts summarizing the changes in various areas.
  
• CCAP has some tips on new rule 40.1(b), which governs filing briefs by mail.
  
• SDAP has one article on the new rules governing writs and delinquency appeals, and another addressing the new rules governing dependency appeals.
  
• California Appellate Defense Counsel also has a summary of the 2005 rules changes.
